Does anybody know what the battery size is and the alternator specifications?
Looking to see if any upgrades will be needed in the future when adding some accessories (fridge, hame radio, etc) for offroad/camping use.
At least it seems the battery is AGM, since it is in the cabin area. Which is great for offroading, as I have found unbaffled acid batteries do tend to spill on fast desert trails.
Thx, that looks interesting. A removable secondary battery will be a good option, but need to think about potentially adding a ham radio. Probably best to make it all removable. Can likely feed this battery from the 12V plug in the back, should be good enough to charge while driving, but need to check if the rear 12V plug stays hot even if the ignition is off.
However it will still be good to know battery and alternator specs.
Battery is an AGM type. It's sized as an H8. Rated at 850 or 900A (both are listed as fitting so not sure it matters)
Thx, you seem to have some access to specs.
I see H8 Duralast batteries seem pretty beefy. Pretty much needed for this type of vehicle. I think an AGM battery in the passenger space will last a long time due to the lower heat. https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s..._722262_25697#
They mention it's AGM in owners manual but don't give any details. If you look up the LR part number on a dealer parts website you can get specs. Same battery as in many other LR vehicles.
The battery isn't in air conditioned space so it might be a little cooler when driving but will be every bit as hot as the engine bay when parked most of the time. So doubt it makes much difference in life. Maybe slightly less 'cooked' by the engine...
Main reason to put it at back is weight balance. It helps to take 50lbs from front to rear of the vehicle.
