Default Which Brake Controller

I've had it with the Disco sliding downhill every time I launch my boat. I need to go to electric over hydraulic brakes on my boat trailer. Has anyone added an aftermarket brake controller to their disco. I'm not interested in any smartphone controlled device as I only tow with the Disco and not any other vehicles. i read somewhere that a Ford controller cable would do the job abd tgere is a connector under the knee kick panel.

Thanks in Advance

I use this:

https://www.tekonsha.com/mobile/prod...RB508pViEKmVBf

No wiring, plug and play on the trailer side.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure I need a $300 wireless unit when a $75 unit will do okay. I don't plan on towing with multiple vehicles or trailers, just the one combo.

Agreed, but you can find ‘em second hand online. Gives you some flexibility to tow the trailer with other vehicles not equipped with a controller.

Have you had any luck? We just bought a 2014 Range Rover with the tow package. It has the 7 pin already but don't know where the plug to add the controller is?

Been using the same Tekonshaw wireless mentioned above for over 5 years now. Meant I didn’t have to buy a new one when I bought the LR 3 years ago. And I can move the trailer unit between the 2 trailers we have. More expensive, but I’ll never need another one, so figured I’m saving hundreds of dollars including installation costs over the many years I’ll have it.
