Default Is this covered by warranty?

This is on a TD6. At first I thought the belt was bad and just shredded then I looked I. And it looks like an idler came apart. I don’t know what it is to be honest, if it drives anything or not. Is this something that would be covered by the warranty? I don’t want to ask the dealer because the first thing they do is always find something they think shouldn’t be covered then charge me twice as much as a great European auto place in town I go to. But I’ll take it to the dealer if the warranty covers it. Still under all my mileage and year requirements.

That’s abnormal wear and it looks like the part failed, as you pointed out. It should be covered under warranty.

Is this a factory warranty 99.9 % should be covered. If it is a CPO warranty they may fight you. But yes, as it has been stated before, this is a part failure, not your fault.

If you're within 4 yr 50K miles we should cover that for you. If you get pushback from retailer call JLRNA and open a case.
