Is a third Party Warranty Worth it?

Is a third Party Warranty Worth it?
I've been looking into a few companies for a warranty on my used disco (2000). It's only got 48k, but I still like the idea of a warranty. I've priced it around $2400- $3000 for 3 years unlmited miles, it just depends on how extensive I want, and what deductible I'll pay. Has anyone else tried this? Any thoughts? Also, I have the rear air-suspension. How do I know if it's going bad, I hear the compressor kicking in quite a bit. I hear a spring noise (like some one jumping on a bed) when I go over bumps with the back tires. Should I just replace it?

The test for how good an extende warranty company is can be found by asking a couple local shops, including the dealer, if they honor this warranty and if they have had any problem with them.
I bought a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty for $3100, it has already paid for it self and I have 2 years and 20,000 miles left to go.
