Default Engine replacement?

Last week my 2019 Disco 5 overheated. My mechanic says there is "internal engine damage" and the coolant is mixing with the oil. He says the only option is to replace the engine which is $10k+. Is this really the only option here? Is there no way to rebuild what I have? The truck is in immaculate condition and I had planned to keep it for a long time. I have babied it since I bought it at 50k miles (it now has 127k). It is my fourth Disco and all of them lasted many miles more than this and I sold them all with original engines still running.

Interesting as you usually don’t get coolant and oil mixing with the common overheating failures on these. What was the nature of the coolant loss/overheat and how quickly did you get it shut off? If it did warp the block and needs a whole new engine $10k isn’t terrible if labor is included
