Default Goodyear Eagle summer tires

Why do Land Rover employees not recognize the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV-4x4 as a Summer tire?? It is listed everywhere as a summer tire.

I wanted to work out a deal for my wifes new Disco to switch out the Goodyears for the Pirelli all seasons that are also Land Rover issued. Instead i had to listen to the GM who clearly had no idea what he was talking about trying to tell me about tires. He even went as far as telling me they had a snowflake mountain symbol making them winter tires! Which they did not. I even sent him links to several sites to prove that they were far from winter rated.

Long story short, they handled what was an easy to make right situation very badly. They dragged it out for too long and were unprofessional. They eventually wanted to work something out but this was weeks after dealing with this and at that point i had already changed the tires myself. I had heard enough B.S. and being talked down to by people that didn’t know what they were talking about or cared to even listen.

Funny that not long after i got the Disco, motor trend did a face off against a few other suv’s and the Disco was out due to TWO flat tires during the off-road test. I’m sure you can guess which tires it was equipped with.

Salesman told me that the Si6 stood for "Supercharged Inline 6".

He seemed upset when I opened the brochure on this desk and pointed this out:

Are you sure?? Everywhere I've looked it's listed as all season. Not summer. It would be very unusual to sell an suv in the snow zone / winter belt with summer tires vs all seasons
TireRack says they are all season. As does GoodYear's own website

I think despite your rant against "uneducated" dealers, they might be right that it's year round rated

I should have mentioned that this is for the 21" tire...

There is only one Goodyear tire available in 275/45/21 and its the one that is used by Land Rover. It is listed as a "Summer" and "Sport Performance" tire Goodyears website. When you google "Goodyear 0216625" which is the tire product code or ID that is stamped on the tire itself, the first site that comes up links you to that tire. Goodyear.

It's listed as a Summer tire on every site. I even had a friend that owns a tire place tell me these were summer tires and to take it back and have them swapped out. This is even listed in the tire description on Tire Racks site and also on the Goodyear Warranty info:

Like all summer tires, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV-4X4 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
Goodyear's warranty states: "Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty."

I asked that same question, why would they sell these cars up here in the northeast with Summer tires, unless it was an option. I was told that summer tires are not an option and they can't even choose a summer tire. So it seems that they just put whatever tires are available at the time they're built (Goodyear or Pirelli). Looking at their inventory some had the Pirelli Scorpion Verden, which is an all season and others had the Goodyears, it a was mix of both. The loaner i had was equipped with the 21" wheels and Pirelli tires. Maybe the Goodyears they use for the 19" and 20" are all seasons, but not for the 21's. It's funny that the optional 22's actually are equipped with all seasons. You would think the 22's would have the performance summer tire. They can deny it all they want, it is what it is.

I’m guessing it’s to signify “direct injection”, but that’s exactly why I had asked him what it stands for when he gave me his response.

These Goodyear can't bite any sort of snow.
M+S rating is a joke. It could barely take a bite in light snow.
