Default Inner tailgate faults?

Has anyone had any problem with their inner tailgate?

On mine I’ve had problems twice where it won’t motor up (doesn’t even try to) when the main tailgate shuts which causes it to collide and then back off and chirp the alarm.
When this happens pushing the button causes it to at least try to motor up but it lifts maybe an inch before stopping and going back down. Manually closing it causes everything to work properly again (both up and down).
i think it happens after I lean on it to reach something in the back of the trunk. But not always...

Any update on this? Mine does similar. Opens perfectly fine with the gesture mode. But will not power back into upright position correctly. I’ve noticed it seems to be “off the track” somehow? I have to push on the right hand side slightly to have it aligned correctly. With that said, it’s almost as if hitting the button to raise it is in reverse …

I haven't had the exact same situation. But I have had times where it has been unresponsive when I push the up/down button in the cargo area. I discovered the problem occurred when I did more than tap the button and don't immediately release it. When I do tap it (as opposed to what I would say is a typical push), it works, although there is a momentary delay before anything happens (like a second or two). If I don't wait for that very brief delay and push the button again, nothing happens because (I assume) the second tap reverses the first one and the gate just stays put.

What I do have a problem with is that hands free liftgate. When I do want to open it, I have to go through a number of distorted dance routines the likes of which a deranged gorilla couldn't perform. But then when I just walk by the rear, it pops open. Not good when the SUV is in my low-roof garage. So, maybe someone can diagram the dance steps?

Yeah, same here. It only seems to open in my garage when I don't want it to. I also have a low garage so I set the tailgate to a position that it doesn't crash into the garage door. But annoying when it's not in the garage I'm having to stoop over to clear my head of the tailgate. For those that aren't aware setting the tailgate height is at 3:15 of this video.

In order to avoid an overhead support, I had to set the opening height so low as to be useless. So I just make sure I don't have the key in my pocket when I go to the back of the suv when it's in the garage.

If you know where it’s going to hit when inside the garage why not add some high density foam padding to the garage ceiling or door header then let it open if it wants to

Well, yeah. But kind of beside the point. It's a bit like not driving on hot days as a solution to faulty air conditioning.
