Default Just received recall for Battery Ground Stud

Not the end of the world, but I was under the impression that my truck already had the fix. They say they can do it in half an hour (billable time is 0.2 hour, that's 12 minutes.) so I might schedule a time when they can otherwise get on it while I wait. Nice that they at least made an improvement and are implementing it before you could possibly get stranded.

Yup, we battled this for 6 mths. Two batteries, cable, terminal, and finally the ground stud. I asked them early on about the new aluminized chassis if perhaps there might be a dissimilar metals corrosion build up over time or something but never got an actual answer. The last thing they did was just swapping the actual ground stud. Good news is [knock on wood] we have not had DOA since the stud swap.

Reading the tech guide for installing a new stud, I’m curious as to how this fixes the problem? It it’s a time based corrosion thing why wouldn’t the problem happen on the new stud?
if it’s a case of some studs being badly fitted at the factory (whatever badly means) what stops the dealership from tech doing a bad job of it and even creating the problem on vehicles that didn’t have the issue to begin with?
Or did I miss the details on the exact cause of the problem re the stud and the exact fix of the new one?

Same thoughts here. Reading the Tech Bulletin it seems the procedure only moves the location of the ground stud.

It’s not in the Bulletin but I remember a star washer being a remedy.

I didn’t experience the problem but the dealership made the fix last time I was in for service.

I had some issues a couple of months back with the info/radio system shutting down every once in awhile. They traced it to the battery and it's connections.

I got the notice yesterday, so I’ll have to get it booked in as I’m like 6 months from the next annual service...

The recall is for 2019 ad 2020 model years. So whatever they did on the 2017/2018 models evidently was different. Haven't had any issues on my 2017. Hope I didn't jinx it.

2017 and 2018 were built in UK.
The changeover to Slovakia was early 2019 I think?

New plant, new problems?

Our 2019 was one of the last ones from the UK.

I had it booked in for this afternoon, took it in and the tech had it done in 30 mins.
