Default Key fob broken

Hi all. I changed the battery in my key fob and it refused to work thereafter. Even tried putting the old battery back in to see if there was an issue with new battery and still no joy. Is this a common problem that's easy to fix? Tried multiple brands of batteries now and no luck. Landrover say it needs to go to them for a day to fix @ £175 per/h so if there was a cheaper work around I'd be very grateful.

I looked in my repair manual to see if there's any other instructions and could not find any.
If your key fob no longer works, isn't your D5 still on warranty?
Check the contacts to make sure they are clean and touching the battery. You do have it installed correctly, right? Not upside down.
So, now your key won't do anything? Makes me think a contact is bent or battery is upside down. Especially since you say the old battery also doesn't work.
Does your second key fob still work?
I think I'll change the batteries in my two keys now to see if they both still work while I'm still under warranty.
