Leaking windshield - early 2019 (Slovakia build)
#11
The car was worked on and finished yesterday afternoon but they kept it overnight I guess to cure better? Anyway I got the call mid morning and picked it up mid afternoon and looks like a neat job but of course unless I’m caught in heavy rain or power washing it I won’t know how good the job really is.
Was so nice to be back in the far superior Discovery seats vs the Evoque, abs and doubts I had in the back of my mine as to whether air suspension is worth paying for were put to bed as the difference between the Disco and the Evoque loaner is night and day...

I should probably update this thread as 2 weeks ago while cleaning the interior I noticed a 2” scratch on the top of the leather dash (passenger side) near the windshield, just out of eyeline unless you’re tall. Obviously fine when they replaced the windshield.
As a lot of time has passed since having the windshield replaced I wasn’t expecting to get very far with my complaint to the dealer however they said common sense said it was their fault and they owned it and are going to replace it. The downside is this means pulling the whole dash out and I’m already dreading the thought of having them chase down squeaks and rattles or having them scratch something else while doing it as the interior is otherwise in mint condition and squeak and rattle free.
But I have no other choice as if I return it like that at the end of the lease I’ll get dinged, and if I decide to keep it I can’t live with knowing the damage is there so it has to be done.
The other bad news is that there aren’t any in North America so they have to order from the UK and I’ve been told it will likely take 2 months, not that it actually matters.

I got a 2017 HSE in early March and I thought I was in the clear. Living in Colorado I soon realized it can snow one day and be 80 the next so not sure if expansion has anything to do with it but one day we got heavy wet snow / rain and boom there it goes, leaky AF. I was sort of annoyed but had faith in Colorado Springs LR that they would take care of it. Called them up and they had me come in the next day. The Service manager took 5 seconds, pressed on the inside of the windshield and boom he determined it was faulty. Ordered me a new windshield and set me an appointment. They taped it up with some tape to keep it from leaking as a temporary fix as the new glass was going to take about 4 weeks to come in.
Came in, dropped it off, got a loaner and bam leak gone.

I am on my second windshield with my 17' D5. Starting leaking again all along the top everywhere. I wanted so bad to love this truck and keep it, but at this point I think I am gonna have to let it go.
Should I go straight to Land Rover Corporate and see what they can do? Has anyone done this?
or
Go straight to my Lemon Law attorney( I live in CA).
This is one of many problems I have had with the disco.
Im still under warranty and have 16,500 miles.
Not sure what I will replace it with, but now I really wish I still had my LR3.

Sorry to hear. Was there anything specific that triggered the failure the second time around (e.g. drastic temp changes). How much time between the first replacement and the second failure? Assume first replacement was done at the dealer, but by an auto glass specialist company, right?
Your car is really low mileage, so wouldn't it be less of a hassle to have the windshield changed again under warranty and selling the car after?

It's been over a year since my last replacement. I just washed it, and noticed the leaking. I live by the ocean in Socal so there is rarely ever any drastic temp changes. It doesn't even rain much at all here.
The 1st replacement was done by the dealer.
I think I may just reach out to my lemon law guy. He usually knows what to do. If I get it a settlement from LR and its a "cash and carry" I will sell it back to them.

Mine has been "re-sealed/repaired 2x". the last was this April 2021. Am really disappointed paying for a luxury vehicle that leaks. Back then I thought LR's were durable making the money worth my while. There really is no excuse may it be drastic temp changes, long drives or it be just sitting on the driveway. It is a vehicle. That is its purpose.. To be driven and shield the passengers from the elements. Like Loriebluedico5 I really wanted to love this truck. With the LR Dealer charging me 3 months worth of groceries for an oil change, brake pad replacements, new tires, software updates and checking the fluids... I think there's a vehicle for me out there that I can keep driving and not get wet when the windows are closed. Please do let us know if you have your lemon guy act upon it. I'll just do the same and be done with this head ache.
