But it’s so beautiful there it’s well worth the risk I think. If you would plan to do any beaches, there’s no better spot.If you park on the bay side the water is considerably warmer
The new wheels had sensors in them with the same frequency. I put them on and the car recognized them. But ever since then it randomly says there’s a problem. Often it goes away after a few miles of driving, and then will suddenly come back.
It’s one of the things I plan to ask when I visit Land Rover USA HQ.
I have the same thing, my wheels came with TPMS from an RRS but it isn't the correct frequency for the D5. I have the reverse problem of Mike where my TPMS alert is almost always on and occasionally goes off. I plan to replace mine soon just haven't gotten around to it yet.
If you're replacing the sensors I'd strongly recommend getting oem ones. For some reason the aftermarket TPMS of the right frequency and type often give intermittent error messages which are v frustrating. My dealer says it's an issue across all the jag and LR models.
Make sure you get the right frequency for your vehicle and market as LR has used at least two frequencies over recent years.
Do the wheels have the tpms? Unfortunately usually when they are take offs they move over the tpms as well so you might need to buy them. You don't need to go to the dealer - any good tire shop can install. But as per my earlier post I'd suggest you buy the LR tpms parts (not aftermarket). Your local tire shop can tell you if tpms are installed if you are not sure.
Depending on whether you plan to keep your factory wheels or sell them, you can always take off your TPMS and put them on your new wheels. I plan to do that as I leased my D5 and will turn it back in with the original wheels and will just sell the RRS wheels once I am done. Also I saw on another thread you asked about tires. I went with BFG K02's 275/55/20, I do a considerable amount of off-roading/over-landing and really like these tires. They have solid on road manners, get good mileage and are great off-road for what I do. I believe Mike got Nitto's on the wheels he found and they are solid tires as well. 275/55/20 is the biggest tire you can go without lifting the D5.
Do you have any rubbing with 275/55/20 on or offroad?
Our D5 is on order and I will probably use the OEM tires first before considering other options, but always good to get a feel of what fits on stock D5.
Loved those Terra Grapplers on my Pepper when I had it. I think I may try those new Conti ATs when we finally get our Disco. A little tamer AT tire but we are both 60 now so doubtful I'll be doing as crazy of stuff and should have better road manners for the wife. Terra Grapplers did surprisingly well though on the highway.
Tire **** . . .
