Default New 23 Model

Hi. New to this group!
I ordered a 22 model Disco in July this year with an expected delivery of November. Got a call this week to tell me JLR had stopped making the 22 model and now only making a new 23 model. Seems like chip shortage has taken some of the electrics out which is frustrating but other than that I can’t see much difference. Has anyone else had this experience?
Also still no build or delivery date, my garage tel me they know nothing but I’m not convinced, are they being open with me?
annyone getting Disco’s delivered at the moment, if so what was your order date?
Thanks in advance for any info shared!!

That is true on the 22 models, we are placing a build out this week for the 23. Said they are expecting a March 2022 delivery date.

Wow is that a new order for a 23 or a reworked 22 order? I’m really hoping I don’t have to wait until March after being told November.

I placed an order for a 2022 just few weeks ago and sounds like it may end up in the same fate.

Does anyone know (esp. folks who have their 2021s turned into 2022s), does JLR readjust the price based on the 2023 MSRP?

Oh yes the price has gone up. I guess it depends on the spec you put together. I’d expect the residuals to increase as well though.

We spoke to one dealer around 10/15-ish and I can't recall which date it was but he had said any orders after 10/1 or 11/1 were subject to a 2% increase. I thought he was negotiating and was full of it. But sure enough around 10/27 there were the new 23's with the price increase on the Landrover site.

So if I were to guess, your MSRP price should be honored. Did you sign a contract when making your deposit?

I just went to the LR website to build a new Discovery and only 2023 are listed! Looks like the 2022 models were only available for approximately 7 months. I put in my order for a 2021 Discovery in early March and it was pushed to a 2022 Discovery. I took delivery in mid June.

yes the contract that you sign when you order gives them the right to change the model and the price. I guess that is pretty standard stuff in the motor trade.
I understand the reason for changing the model, lots of manufacturers are bringing out new models that need fewer chips.

No specific contract per se. The LR dealer I work with takes a signed build sheet as the commitment to then place a deposit for the order. The build date is set for mid-Nov and delivery for end of Jan. I've tried creating the same 2023 car with the same options as the 2022 build sheet and its 5.4% more expensive so its quite a bit (R-Dynamic P360 HSE).

I'll keep sharing as I get more info from LR *fingers crossed

So I am going through his today with our LR dealer for a 23.

Salesrep said he can't build out a Disco without a deposit ($1000). He won't know what standard options will be rejected in the build out until he does it, but needs a deposit to do so.

Am I being paranoid or is he just locking me in for a purchase and this thing could show up with a bunch of features which are currently listed on the LR website as standard features missing. Isn't that a blatant FTC violation?
