Default Offroad tire pressure

What are people setting their tire pressure to for offroading?
I still have the OEM 255/55/20 tires, which has little sidewall. On the street I run 38 front and 40 rear as it mostly has 1-2 people and sometime maybe 4. I up it for more people heavier loads.

I was thinking around 25 is probably the lowest for general trials and rocks, while maybe going down to 20 or maybe even 15 in soft sand areas.

Once the OEM tires are worn I will look at mild AT 275/55/20, but again it is not a lot of extra sidewall and won't be LT tires as it is mostly a DD for us.

The Lucky8 guys at Rovers at Wintergreen were running 25 but they have 33x12.50r18 on the D5

Have always run 15-20 on really soft sand and never got stuck.

Well took her offroad this weekend in pretty much rocky terrain. Started at 30PSI and that seemed to be lowest safe pressure fro the stock Pirelli 255/55/20s. Could see if dodging on some rocks and lower pressure would have increased the risk of pinching the sidewall.

For now my recommendation would be 30PSI all round for rocky terrain on stock 255/55/20 tires.

Perhaps others can post up their experience with the D5 and their tire/wheel combo, as it will help to build up a knowledge base.

On the plus side the lockers and terrain control on rock setting worked extremely well. It was a pleasant surprise. You can see my little trip report here https://landroverforums.com/forum/4x...ld-lake-96933/

I have the stock 20 inch on a '19 disco and I go down to 15 psi on the beach (soft sand). Never an issue. Others have suggested lower.

I like looking at the tire after reinflating--you get a good sense of how much of the sidewall you use for contact when aired down.
