I indeed live in Florida and have a 2020 Discovery Landmark ( 3.0L V6 F DOHC 24V ) gasoline engine, All wheel Drive.

1- I'm thinking about changing the oil every 13k-14k (as opposed to 16k), would this be OK?

2- Is this the "suction port" you are referring to:
3- Would I be OK buying a non OEM oil filter like this one from AutoZone?
https://www.autozone.com/filters-and...92xl/87578_0_0

Thanks in advance!
1. Technically if it meets OEM spec, I would imagine the oil will be good for that long of an interval. However, there are too many factors (driving style, fuel quality, etc) at play to say for sure. Your best bet would be to get an Oil Analysis with TBN by Blackstone Laboratories ( https://www.blackstone-labs.com ). Also, remember.. an oil change a few K's early is much cheaper than a blown engine.

2. That's the one.

3. I would not do that. You have a 2020 which I imagine is still under warranty. If something catastrophic were to happen to the engine, they will deny warranty. That STP filter is also un-reinforced and only rated for 10k miles.

Honestly, while you're under warranty, I would stick to OEM filters - part LR011279. I know they're more expensive, buying in bulk (4+) will bring the cost down to about ~$25 per filter, and they are rated for the factory OCI which is 16k. I purchased from an online LR dealership so I have an invoice & proof they are genuine filters for warranty - this was also advice from my service advisor just in case something happens.
After warranty is up, you can save a few bucks by doing Mahle, etc if desired... but with OEM being fairly reasonably priced, why do something different?

He asked for the oil change schedule, viz., the Land Rover-specified interval, but I agree with you. I cut that interval in half and change oil every 8,000 miles. As for the type of oil, I use Amsoil in my other vehicles but Amsoil doesn't yet produce oil meeting the required Land Rover specification and they say "Use engine oil meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification STJLR.03.5005. If unavailible, SAE 5W-30 ACEA C2 may be used." Mobil 1 is probably OK but if you ever have an engine problem that the dealer or Land Rover can blame on use of non-approved engine oil, you'll be stuck with the bill, even if the vehicle is still under warranty. Since I can afford to pay ~$100 every 400 miles for a tank of Diesel #2, I can afford to pay that amount every 8000 miles for an oil change using specified oil.

Ill start using castrol oil in my disco once I do 2 more oil changes cuz my stock running out. The mobil 1 reaches ACEAC2 spec and it should be fine in the engine I mean mobil 1 isn't even a bad brand. Gmfain also uses this oil and has more miles than me with no issues yet.

To each his/her own.
When's the last time you've ever heard of an oil related failure?

Don't bother replying. When someone has a mindset there's no use responding. It's just antagonsisic.
Let's keep this forum useful.

Is it much better to use the castrol Oil over the Mobil 1 stuff because I love using castrol in my 4runner but its kinda hard to get in Canada other than from the dealer. Mobil 1 meets ACEAC2 anyway is it just as good its fine for me at this moment.
