The ideal location for a blocking plate would be between the exhaust duct and the EGR cooler (last photo) if the clamp that binds them together has the tolerance to accommodate the resulting spread at that interface.

 

@gmfain Mitchell, is this something we should cleanup regularly? or just wait for a failure & replacement at some point?

 

Well its a 5 hour labor job. So its a wait till plugs up deal I believe.

I had my Indy shop do it. I do have the old part, that I plan on cleaning, for a backup.

Lets talk about this blocking plate. I am a machinist, I can make the plate.
Would we just have a permanent cel light? I don't mind that at all.
