Default P2185

Hey all, had my first CEL today on a 2017 TD6 HSE with approximately 104,000 miles. The code reader spit out P2185 which seems to be related to the cooling system. Car is driving great, no rough idle or any symptoms, just took a 420 mile trip to/from Chicago and averaged 28 mpg. I was able to clear the code and it didn’t come back, any ideas what this could be and what can fix it? Thanks in advance!

Thanks! That’s what I was finding also. Pretty easy swap or do I have to drain the coolant? Is that part located on the coolant lines? Am I ok to drive the car? Cleared the code and it hasn’t returned, just trying to stay away of the temperature gauge.

I know this sounds crazy, but how old is your battery? Get your battery tested.
Since the code cleared, I would check the battery.
Weak or failing battery will cause all kind of weird stuff.

Good thought there. I purchased in March and have no records of battery swap. I’ll look into that also. Any recommendations on battery for this particular car?

The code was "Permanent" when I started this morning on the way into work and ended up coming up on my reader as "Pending" by the time I got into the office. No CEL in either case and the temperature was still sitting right in the center the whole commute. Coolant levels were perfect after letting the vehicle sit overnight as well. Cheap enough part, I think I'll just swap it and go from there. Will also look into the battery as it's probably something I should be aware of regardless. The biggest question I have at the moment is if it's safe to drive? I'd be afraid of the car potentially overheating without any warning because the sensor is malfunctioning. Am I paranoid?

Part has been purchased and should be here next week. Install instructions attached for anyone that runs into this job. Looks pretty straightforward. Thanks for the battery info too!

Update- super easy swap. Don’t even need to drain and refill the system, just pop the old sensor out with the new one ready to go in its place. Cleared the code, but still coming back after a few drive cycles.

Anyone know if there is a second sensor on the TD6 model? Have replaced the one that sits at the front of the engine along the coolant hoses, but wondering if there is also one connected to the radiator or in another place? If so, any information would be awesome. Thanks in advance!
