On the roof rack; 1) I assume some cutting is involved and 2) are those exposed cut out areas sealed from water in some fashion?
The rack looks very well integrated.
2) Per their instructions a little bit of sealant is used at the bolt hole locations. Water gets under those finishers regardless based on the design, so it seams the only concern is ingress at the bolt holes.

Can’t use your sunroof
I’ve installed racks from Safety Devices, Voyager, Front Runner, OEM most LR models, and Prospeed. Then I have been able to service those cars during the ownership period. It's great to see aftermarket parts for the D5 though. There aren't nearly enough options out there.
