They aren't the closest to my location in SoCal, but it's worthwhile taking the D5 to trusted folks.
Good to see them more active on the forum
Good to know.

On the roof rack; 1) I assume some cutting is involved and 2) are those exposed cut out areas sealed from water in some fashion?

The rack looks very well integrated.

1) if you have roof rails. Once removed you are left with those cut outs. If you don’t have rails, even better, you drill holes in your finishers that match the circumference of the stainless spacers.

2) Per their instructions a little bit of sealant is used at the bolt hole locations. Water gets under those finishers regardless based on the design, so it seams the only concern is ingress at the bolt holes.

Whats Worse:

Can’t use your sunroof

I’ve installed racks from Safety Devices, Voyager, Front Runner, OEM most LR models, and Prospeed. Then I have been able to service those cars during the ownership period. If racks were tools, this is the Snapon of racks. Minor chamfers and subtle engineering details make these racks stand out and they age gracefully compared to those listed.
I think a lot of those are marketing and subjective as "better" than the similar OEM rack. I can see the front aero and the reusability as being benefits, but the OEM is pretty high quality and I dare say the mounting for the OEM rack is superior to what I'm seeing in the photos on their website. The inability to use the sunroof is a dealbreaker for me. The OEM gets around this by having a removable bar so the sunroof can still open.

It's great to see aftermarket parts for the D5 though. There aren't nearly enough options out there.
