Default Replacement Hotspot SIM Card - USA

Hey all, I have a 2017 TD6 HSE and I'm trying to get my hotspot system up and running so I can have access to internet when on the road. I went through ATT and activated the hotspot for the vehicle, but after several failed attempts to get connected ATT informed me that the SIM card I have in my vehicle is outdated and supports only 3G. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement SIM card that will support hotspot functionality without purchasing through the dealer? Land Rover Louisville wanted $200 for a replacement which seems insane. Thanks in advance!

Isn't the SIM card in a slot in the center armrest between the front seats? I think you just press to pop out the current sim and replace it with a new one. ATT should give you a sim for free? It takes a micro sim so if you have a nano card you need one of those small adapters. But I think they usually come with one.

The car has a second sim in the telematics which you can't access. Maybe they thought you meant that one? I think WiFi is on the armrest one

Yeah, it's the one in the center armrest slot. ATT made it sound like I couldn't just replace it with one from the store, that it had to be specifically from LR. I thought you could just pop any SIM in there and it would work... I don't know, haha.

Running my own hotspot device, so the car and passengers can connect to it; and we can carry it along with us (if needed).

@adam5 @sowrco Good call. Will reconsider this and just do the mobile hotspot. Easy solution. Thanks all!

The issue isn't the SIM, it's the 3G hardware in the vehicle. Once they killed 3G it caused a ton of issues for unprepared (ahem, JLR) manufacturers.

I recall getting a letter from VW saying they will offer free-of-cost upgrade once the radio module is available for my car. Bueller LR??

Yeah, as far as I know it's been radio silence. (pun intended)
