Default TD6 Timing Belt Replacement cost

My 2017 TD6 is due for a timing belt and I was qouted $1400 plus tax by a local independent shop. That includes the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley and drive belt. Just wondering if anyone has had this done lately and if this seems like a decent price for this job. The shop is very reputable and specializes in imports. Thanks for any info provided.

Is that front timing belt only? My indy shop quoted $936, front only.

Land Rover quoted me about $3200 for just the front. I'll be doing it myself.

Wow that’s a lot but I can’t say I’m surprised by that.

112K milage. My indy shop says rear one isn't necessary, If the rear one breaks, no damage.

if the front one breaks, she's toast.

I'm only doing the front.

Only did the front, would recommend doing the water pump at the same time since you’ll already be in there. Similar to @gmfain the rear belt is not necessary as most have said the rear belt was hardly worn when replaced. The overall job is not difficult if you choose to take it on yourself. Just make sure you have a set of timing pins when you go to do the belt so nothing moves.

Im probably going to find a local euro shop to do it since I hate doing timing belts. One post on the forums had a big list of parts including tensioners and pulleys Ill probably end up buying those as well.

Finding an LR specialist (who is credibly familiar with the Td6) is proving to be challenging. I called a local Ford diesel specialist, hoping he'd know the motor in n out; but no, he had only seen two 3.0 powerstrokes in his 12yrs at the shop.
If someone in CA finds a good LR Td6 shop, please do chime in
