Redbourne (https://www.redbournewheels.com/) makes aftermarket wheels exclusively for Land Rover vehicles and the web site has a vehicle configurator that shows what each style will look like on your exact vehicle (including vehicle color). the 285/50s could have been squeezed onto the 8.5" wide OEM wheels but I wanted the improved handling and stability that you alluded to (not to mention appearance) that came with a squared-off wheel/tire configuration. Needless to say, I limit off-road excursions by staying on established but unmaintained/unpaved desert roads (Nevada has over 10,000 miles of such roads) to keep the wheels from getting trashed. Go to https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ if you want to see comparisons between different wheel/tire size/offset configurations.
That looks good! I went to the redbourne site, but it looks like the images are down. I tried a different browser, and my phone. All of the images load as blank/transparent blocks. I like the OEM look of the 20s and i'm curious why there was a 8.5 and 9.5 of the same wheel. I'm guessing it's because they changed the tire width and needed some wider wheels to go with. Thanks for the suggestion! The 285 is a good size as it is essentially Identical circumference so there is no speedometer difference.

I ended up passing on the Disco I went to look at. It was missing some features that I understood it had. It also was a very rough ride, that I attribute to the 22s, but it was also the I6 so maybe that is a factor. I've only driven a 2024 4 cyl with the 21 inch wheels.

New to the brand ownership but I can recommend a couple of other wheel brands/tire sizes. The 22 inch wheel option is not ideal for rural VT's dirt roads etc so i have converted both my 2020 RRS and 21 Discovery to 20 inch wheels. No lift on either vehicles.
- i cobbled together from Ebay, 2 sets of Redbourne wheels (my impression simply from searching/stock checking is the company no longer is manufacturing) with different finishes, and had all 8 powdercoated by my local powder coat guy. These are the 20x9.5 with 32 mm offset, and they fit perfectly on the RRS and also fit fine on the Discovery 5. Running 275/50/20 tires on those wheels, Nokian R5s for winter and Continental LX 25 for summer.
- For the 21 Discovery 5, I am running Rotiform STL 20x9 30ET with Nokian Hakka 10 studded tires in size 285/50/20 and they look and fit great. flush with fender. Minor diameter variation from stock (under 2%). wheels were procured from a couple of vendors but i believe Rotiform was doing another production run end of 23.
-Also for the 21 Discovery i have Black Rhino Alston (black matte) 20x 8.5 with a 25 offset procured from Lucky 8 that will be fitted with 285/50/20 all terrain light Nitto Nomads.

The wheel sizes and offsets mentioned above seem to be ideal for a non lifted set up where you want a flush outboard fitment while retaining the access height setting, and plenty of clearance to fender well/suspension.

Default Bridgestone dueler a/t ascent 275 /50 r20 113h xl bsw

Just fitted these on standard 20 rims - no rubbing and riding smooth as the Pirelli Scorpions. Looks much better with 275 ATs - the 275/50 is almost identical circumference to original 255/55, so speedo still as accurate as before - important where I live, you get stopped for 31mph in 30 zone.

Compare tire sizes, rim offset specifications, and wheel well clearances at https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ (answers an old question but worth repeating).

Defender takeoffs with 255/60r20 Wranglers. Zero rubbing. Have programmed about 10mm of lift on the GAP tool just for kicks
