TPMS Question
Has anyone bought and installed a second set of wheels with TPMS on a US spec Discovery?
Not moving the original TPMS to the new wheels but instead buying a second set of 4 TPMS.
Or replaced their original factory TPMS with new ones?
If so, what brand and model TPMS did you successfully install?
Did that brand and model require programming? And any brand and models that were unsuccessful?

Yes. I did that for my winter wheels on the Land Rover and have run them successfully for past 4+ years. No programming required - they auto detect after a few minutes the first time you use them, then they seem to be able to remember more than one set of sensors as they work immediately when I swap them every 6 months
I used LR own spec ones. Found them on eBay at heavily discounted price and trusted they were legit. On my prior Jaguar I had issues with the aftermarket VDO ones from TireRack (got intermittent tpms system errors) and JLR dealer told me the system from that period was sensitive to some sensor brands. By the time I bought official JLR ones and had them reinstalled it was expensive so I decided to stick with the OEM ones after that.
A tire shop said something about waving a wand to turn the sensors on the first time they are used but I don't think I had to do that (or maybe they do it when they install the tire)
I found battery life to be excellent - I ran those ones for 8 years with no issues

Thank you for your answer. Can you please tell me what year your Jaguar was that had trouble with the VDO’s? I was thinking of buying those. This has been such a hassle finding wheels and sensors. Wheels that Discount Tire list as fitting sometimes had different incompatible specs on the wheel manufacturer’s website. And TPMS if they don’t work properly will be a big hassle to swap out and may not be returnable. And factory wheels are more than I am willing to spend. Alternative is just mount and dismount my winter tires every year.
The Jag was 2010 so it was a prior system. The current vehicles are meant to work fine with standard aftermarket sensors. I just didn't have the patience to test it. But sounds like someone above has got it working fine as it should.
So you are prob fine with VDO and standard ones
I went for separate wheels as it is so much easier to just spin the wheels over every 6 months.

Just an FYI, I tried some Amazon TPMS sensors that claimed to be compatible but had a really tough time getting them to connect and stay connected. Tried multiple times, even with a tire installer. Some would connect, some wouldn't. Some, once connected would drop out.
Anyway, I wound up paying someone to transfer over the OEM's to the new rims.
