Transmission Fluid Change

Transmission Fluid Change
If anyone has changed their own transmission fluid on the D5 or other vehicle with ZF transmission: How do you measure fluid temperature after the initial fill?
This is required after the initial fill to determine if the fluid temperature is within range to top it off properly.
I have considered inserting a temperature probe or sensor into the filler hole but I'm afraid if it contacts a moving part (it is measured with engine running but transmission in park) that it will leave particles in my new fluid. Maybe no moving parts inside filler hole while transmission is in park?
I have also considered an infrared thermometer to measure the transmission case temperature but I'm not sure if it will accurately reflect the fluid temperature.
I do not believe my handheld scanner will provide transmission fluid temperature - this would be the ideal medthod.

Thanks for that link and info gmfain. That certainly does provide the transmission fluid temperature.
After I posted the question I found a link to a ZF manufacturer's video showing them getting the temperature via an infrared thermometer aimed at the plastic transmission pan on a different ZF transmission so I think the infrared theremometer must be acceptable.
I don't have an Android device so I can't look into that TorquePro App yet but that's certainly an option.
