Unhappy USB music playback reset and voice command lost randomly

It's driving me nuts and I am not sure if this is supposed to be normal.

So the USB playback randomly gets reset upon vehicle start, it does not recognize the last song played and starts playing the first song on the thumb drive. Doesn't happen all the time, but it usually happened after it has been parked for hours or overnight. I have also had it "reset" in 1 hour. And every time this happens, the voice control for these songs are not functional. You tell it to play artist "ABC", It confirms the command is recognized and successful with a beep, but proceeds to do nothing (still playing the current song). Restarting the car does not resolve the issue. Only way to resolve this is to plug in a different usb and let it re-index.
  • Tested both usb ports and have experienced the same glitches at the same frequency.
  • Tested multiple usb sticks and experienced the same glitch multiple times.
  • Tested both NTFS and FAT32 and experienced the same glitch.
  • Reset to factory defaults in the infotainment, and still the same.
Do your car media player always recognize where you left off when using a USB thumbdrive for music? The thing that bugs me is that it's completely random.
I don't mind the "reset", but the voice command for these songs stops working, and I have to swap USB daily. Voice command for Navigation and everything else still works.

What version are you running on InControl? (21B)?

goto all settings> software update> check for update( it should display current version you have)

OS 3.0

I took it to the dealer and they insist it's not a hardware issue, and the software is up-to-date. Doesn't explain why no one else is having this issue.

hello i have the same issue. As i am listening to music thru my flash disc inserted in the usb port, it randomly resets it. same as yours did. i have a RR 2017 4.4 sdv8 autobiography.
I have noticed that the car tends to start the music slowly not immediately as i start the car, and if you have auto start/stop enabled and you stop before the music starts, it reset the flash drive.
anyone can help, please come forward
