Default Water Leak runs down inside windshield

2018 HSE Lux without hud or heated glass.

Noticed streams of water running down inside of windshield from the headliner about 5 inches away from the A pillar. Coincidentally, just above the instrument cluster.

I sprayed some water to find the leak and I don't know if it's the windshield or the sunroof drain.

I ran some electrical tape along to outside top edge of the windshield and the roof to seal it and it still leaks.

Is the water coming from the roof rail, sunroof drain, or the a pillar trim?
I'd like to go to the next step and clean the sunroof drains but I have no clue if I remove the exterior a pillar trim or go inside and pull down the headliner. Or do I just bite the bullet and replace the windshield?

Go find a shop to lift and reseal the windshield for $250. Good luck! Lots of good info on that thread.

Good luck, I have/had the same problem. Three months of BS. First there are no windshields available in the US (all backordered), so make sure that is where the leak is actually coming from. After they finally found a backordered windshield, installed it, "dried the carpet" yeah we are on the third try to dry the carpet. Then they realized it was the sun roof drain, so they cleared that. So I'm not sure I needed the windshield in the first place. Replacement carpet is on back order, HUD is ruining from water somehow. To top it all off, I took it in for the rear hatch adjustment. Oh did I mention the mirror bases turned blue? Oh that's a thing too. So after 90 days, I have a new windshield, new mirrors, the rear hatch works great, sunroof drain holes clear, no HUID, and waiting for new carpet. Good luck

This has been a problem with the D5 since they came out. Originally, there wasn't enough glue applied at the factory, and while most of the time replacements stop the leaking, I have seen a few that still leaked after being replaced, most likely due to installer error.

I have the same issue during a VERY heavy rain. How many sunroof drains do these trucks have?

I had the same issue and still dealing with. I posted on reddit because now it's turned into a possible electric issue. I had one mechanic say it was the windshield but other ppl are saying it's the sunroof even though they dont open. I'm literally frustrated and at a loss

I've been told there are 4 drains and they each dump near the wheel wells and that is where they clog first. I am still trying to verify that and I hope it is the sunroof drain and not the windshield.

I wish I could send the videos I recorded. Looked like my mirror was spitting up and the lights on my dash would've had you convinced it was possessed
