2003 LR Disco II 4.6L Questions
So I just bought my first Land Rover, it was a quick deal and Im questioning it already ! The seller bought the truck , was told one thing and found out another. Ended up rebuilding top of engine, I'm told new gaskets, seals, rings, oil pan gasket, few other things, PINNED THE CYLINDERS, new to me. No big deal he was in deep and I got it cheap. Anyways, when he explained it , sounded legit. The more I read about pinning the cylinders the more I dislike it. Has anyone else did this? Does it last/work? Another question I have a small oil leak on passenger side, it drips right onto my catalytic converter, I'm having trouble pin pointing exactly from where? Any ideas ? Possibly a pin not holding ?
One more ? .. the truck has a oil pressure gauge by the shifter. It seems to stick Alot, oil pressure light stays on until the gauge activates. don't always work on start up, sometimes takes 20-30 seconds to kick on, sometimes if it don't work i kill the truck, restart it and it comes on instantly. Is this normal ?

Hi, welcome to the forum. If the cylinders were pinned properly, it’s a legit and good fix for cylinder liners that are a bit prone to slipping if overheated. The oil pressure sounds like an issue. As both the light and gauge agree, it seems that it’s taking a bit too long to build oil pressure, but there are more variables. You should post this, and any other technical questions in the Disco 2 section of this forum. I don’t think you’ll find a better forum for your Disco.
