Default 2004 4.6L Engine Oiling

Hi I am a new Land Rover owner 2004 Discovery
Engine had a cracked sleeve.
Took apart sent to machine shop for sleeve replacement.
Upon assembly noticed a passage on the bottom of the block center on one side that gets covered by the oil pan, it is a hole about 1/2" with a bolt hole on either side it looks as though you would connect an oil pick up, i can see passages built in that go up to the front cover/pump area..
Question.. is this a non used hole? or did the machine shop pull a plate off that I didn't notice
I'll attach pictures if I can

Thanks
Mark

Hi, what did you figure out on this? I have the same exact problem.. I'm putting my engine back together... someone else disassembled it so I have no idea if anything goes in that hole and the guy that took it apart doesn't remember.. I'm ready to put the oil pan on, but want to be sure.. thanks, tim....
