Default considering the purchase of a SE7

Hello!
My name is Emily, and i am new to this forum, hoping to gain some insight from experienced landrover owners. Im the proud mom to 3 kids, and we currently own a Nissan Xterra which i love! I would like to get another SUV with third row. The diesel excursion is at the top of my list, but we cannot afford one of those at this time. Ive considered getting a landrover for quite awhile...but all ive heard is such terrible things about them. People say they are extremely expensive to repair, they are broke more than they run and are always leaking oil. Honestly, i have no idea what landrovers are like from personal experience. I am looking into a particular SE7 that i found listed online. I was wondering if anyone could give me any thoughts on the truck and what we should look out for if we choose to go look at it.
Thanks!

As much as I like Rovers, what you heard is painfully true. If you need a 3 row SUV, I would seriously suggest you look for another vehicle.

Wow, to hear that from a landrover owner is surprising. I really appreciate the honesty! Last thing i need is a breakdown with three kids in the middle of nowhere. I guess i will continue the search!

I have a 2004 SE7 and I love it, but I knew what to look for and do all of the work myself. For me it represented a less expensive alternative to other 7 passenger vehicles and fit my needs quite well. But if you are just looking for something reliable that you plan to pay someone else to repair, Mike is right on. These vehicles get crappy mileage, aren't all that refined and are expnsive to have repaired by mechanics.

I won't even recommend a newer Land Rover or a Range Rover unless it still has a warranties or you work on it by your self, If I didn't get my discovery for free blown engine and little stuff I wont even buy one. may I suggest 7 seater alternative like Nissan Pathfinder 05 to 12 are mostly 7 seater the V6 can get 26mpg not bad, I seen some from $8k in craigslist. another alternative is Honda Pilot & Toyota Land Cruiser they all have 3rd row
