Default Finally found it.

Finally pulled the trigger on an 04 Discovery yesterday. I'm excited, but really what car made in the last 20 years doesn't have auto on off lights, crazy! Then again I'll have some time with it today while it's still daylight out to figure out the finer points.

1. Welcome

2. The temp gauge should not be trusted above 9:00, designed to show 9:00 unless overheating. Consider purchase of an Ultra Gauge.

3. Inspect front propdrive shaft for grease fittings, read our tech section write up on rebuilding front prop shaft - stock one can split, and poke big hole in the tranny. 5K - $7K problem, $100 fix.

4. This is not a car, it is a truck, over 4,000 pounds of it, and it will not handle like the Vanden Plas. It can stay in the shop more often if you let it.

4. Enjoy the download of the RAVE below, the factory set of shop and owner manuals.

5. Post questions and comments in other areas of the forum to get more pairs of eyeballz on your ideas/concerns.

I HATE automatic headlights, to many idiots rely on them to come on in the rain/snow/dusk...they never come on in weather.
Not to mention when driving through the Christmas light show at the local baseball field and all of those people who cant turn off their lights and you are in a car infront of a SUV and you can't see a damn thing because his headlights are shining right in your face.
Yeah, I hate automatic headlights.
Plus you cant sneak up to the house, or hide from the police driving down allies if you cant turn off your lights.
And dont EVEN get me started on the new trend of the recessed instrument clusters that need to be lighted whenever the ignition is on because it is totally blacked out otherwise...

I love that crumpled RAM pick and I hate those trucks with lights on at the Christmas Show.

Thanks guys, ordered the UltraGuage cause they are cool. Also downloaded the Rave a few weeks ago so I'm checking that out and checked the front drive shaft and it is serviceable. The only issue I see so far is the broken tabs on the air filter housing. I'll post a question in the proper area.
