First D2
#2
Welcome. Enjoy the shop and owner manual download, called the RAVE. We have a high miles service list in our forum and tech area, lots of things you can do yourself. Known problems with D2 that are serious:
Heat gauge reads at 50% over a wide range of temps, like 130F - 240F. A digital scanner or Ultra Gauge shows a more accurate pictures so you can deal with small issues before overheating damages engine. You would be well advised to check fluids under hood daily for 1st week, then weekly after that.
Front drive shaft has factory sealed grease joints on one end, these dry out, shaft may chirp, then it splits and spears a hole in the transmission, $7000 sized hole at the dealer. Rebuild shaft for about $100 in our tech area, or after market shaft.
Oil pump can crack. An manual oil PSI test with a gauge is a good idea, truck only comes with a warning light. It should come on for a few seconds at crank up. That's few, not dozen(s).
