Smile Hello All

Hi all. My Name is Enrique over here in Florida.
I got a 2004 D2 fixer upper a couple of weeks ago. I used to have a D1 back in 2000. I have been missing it and got another rover now. I got the truck not running. I have slowly gotten all systems running.
The seller sold it to me thinking it was the fuel pump. The fuel pump is fine.
First off the alarm and engine cut off where engaged. Whom ever was working on it took off the horn relay and it seems they where trying to make the truck work with the engine cut off engaged. In doing so they hacked up alot of wires. After I got the alarm off and emergency system off, the truck turned on but would shut off. Then I noticed the main engine ground to body was off and the main battery grounding point was off and the ignition coils had no screws. (laying there) So I took the intake apart and bought new screws and screwed everything down. I'm sure the ignitions need to be screwed to get good ground. I also added the black wire protecting braids to all the wires again. Seems they where all removed. After all of this I was able to drive it around the block. It seems after the initial warm up it starts shutting off in idle. I can keep it on by keeping the RPMS up. The diagnostic showed the MAF. I changed the MAF and it seems to have made no difference. The current symptoms to me seem to point to the crank sensor. I ordered one from ebay and am waiting on it. Mean while I'm removed the part of the engine harness that holds the crank sensor and all the O2 sensors and am verifying all wires connect back to the ECM. I found a wire on this harness that was spliced and left almost coming off with no tape potentially grounding. So I pulled that whole branch to repair it, verify it, and add the braid protection again. That's what I'm currently working on. Hopefully the crank sensor will come tomorrow.
I have also now and then gotten the problem with the M S and D flashing. Some people say there is a switch that goes bad. I'm not sure if this is suppose to be the switch on the transmission selector part. For the moment I'm concentrating on the engine problem.
