Hi my name is troy i am 35 yo i have to daughters Alyssa 4 and Courtney MO. after months or research and a few paniced posts today (thanks guys) i pulled the trigger and bought a 2002 discovery with 122k on the ticker. i plan on using it to take Alyssa to Dr appointments (she is in a wheelchair) and deep into the woods camping. i have 20 years exp working on vehicles snowmobiles MC jet skis but never anything more exotic than a Toyota so i am looking fwd to some learning. i hope i made a good choice. i am looking fwd to becoming a contributing member to this form. please accept my thanks in advance and excuse my ignorance.....and my grammar for that matter i cant type to save my life. i look fwd to getting to know you and please if i can help ask.

Welcome. Download the shop and owners manual - called the RAVE.
Be aware that heat gauge will show 50% from like 130F to 230F, so you want to think about a scanner or Ultra Gauge to see actual temps.
The front drive shaft if stock has sealed joints at one end. When they dry out, the shaft can come apart and poke hole in tranny. Rebuild or replace before this happens, see our tech area for rebuild info.
There is also a high miles service list of things to catch up with.
