Hello From Kuwait
Hello,
I'm new not to new to the froum. I've been lurking in the shadows for a few months figured it's time to make my intro. I Bought my Disco II back in August. Perfect condition inside and out. Mechanically it's another issue. The lady that owned it before me never heard of servicing so I'm in the process of servicing everything. Changed the oil twice (first time looked like soft serve ice cream), got a new air filter, plugs, wires and transmission filter should be in country next week, ultra gauge ordered today. Thanks to everyone here for all the great advice.

Please review the front prop shaft, if stock it can split and spear hole in tranny. Rebuild or replace with one that is fully greaseable. Pix of the knuckles where fitting are not from factory. Look at one of the 180F soft spring thermostats also. As for oil, if flush products available in the US are not common, like "Gunk", "BG", etc.; consider using transmission fluid in the oil at a 50/50 mix and idle for 20 minutes, then drain and replace with fresh oil. Some even drain oil all the way, keep old filter on so there is a little oil in the system, and fill with ATF and do the warm up and drain flush. Some use kerosene in various mixtures, like one or two quarts to the rest of the oil system. But I would suspect that some brand of oil flush would be available in many places, even if you have to buy it from the dealer. When doing the flush, don't run engine under load, just idle.
You should consider that if oil was sludge, oil pickup screen could also be somewhat blocked. If you drop pan, it can be cleaned, and the pickup tube O-ring replaced, and the two bolts that hold it put back with Locktite.
You may also want to have a mechanical oil PSI test done, oil pumps can crack.
As for ACE parts, consider contacting a dismantler like Paul Grant; not sure how international shipping would work.

Welcome to the site.
If you have need for a guide to get that truck back current, look at my major service list posted on a sticky at the top of the D2 section or PM me with any questions.

Thanks for the tips. I used a flush product can't remember which one. I chnged the oil first. The next week I used the flush and changed the oil again and put in a new filter.
Mike- I have seen your list and I will do as much as possible.
It can be a bit of a pain getting parts here but we'll see how it goes.
