Default hello new to Land Real Rover

Just purchased 1999 Land Rover Discovery 2 se7 , 127000 miles has bull bar, off road lights and ladder and roof rack installed. First day replaced leaking water pump and flushed system and changed oil and filter. So far found easy to work on rides nice and looks nice. Was driven by 16 yr old last year tore up few interior parts for stereo and damaged bumpers so will be looking to make new steel to replace old one. Looks like a lot of help on here so will use often. Thanks John

Welcome.

The RAVE is a free download below, it is the set of factory shop manuals.

Front drive shaft should be inspected. If original style, won't have grease fittings on each U joint. They snap and the shaft flails the transmission and makes a hole in the case. Rebuild info in the tech area (do now, or go with after market shaft).

OEM heat gauge will point at 50% from about 130F to 240F, so you won't know if overheating has started until toasting has begun. Use a scanner or Ultra Gauge to read exact temp from OBDII port. A 180F alternate temp thermostat will drop you engine temps about 10F across the board.

Viscous clutch may follow water pump soon. Having spent 127,000 miles on the dance floor with the old one, minor vibrations now may make things really wear out faster. One for a Chevy 2000 Express 4.3 liter w/o AC is a good swap, about $60.

Thanks for information on overheat and drive shaft. I looked at shaft and I see one place to grease near front of shaft, so is this original or replacement one thanks.

Sounds original. There should be grease fittings at all u-joint and slip fitting.
