Hello from SoCal
Hi everyone.
New to this forum - have an older 96 Disco I'm bringing out of mothballs. Will be doing a lil work on her the next couple of months to get her back in shape and wanted to say hello.

You'll be wanting to download the full set of free factory tech manuals that cover owners, shop, electrcial, body and interior. Link below, called the RAVE. Also see our tech area of the D1 section, it has things to do for high miles vehicles, and common repairs step-by-step with photos.
If I was confronted with an engine that had "set up" for a while, I would be concerned with piston rings being frozen up. If vehicle has not been cranked would suggest remove all plugs, squirt in a modest quantity (spoon full) of thin oil, like Marvel Mystery Oil. Let sit 30 minutes. Crank engine without plugs for a few seconds. Wait. More oil. Let sit another 30 minutes. Crank again, maybe 10 seconds. When new plugs installed, run engine and you will get exhaust smoke, this will clear in a few minutes.
Your radiator is of the age and type (copper - brass) that it can be acid flushed and rodded out by a small indy shop. Sitting for long time, certainly without distilled water, not good.

Agreed. All good points. She's been cranked somewhat regularly even though it was mostly sitting. I just changed all fluids and replaced rear pinion seal last week. Just haven't put any road miles on it in quite a while. I will be rechecking the radiator - rodded it out a few years ago after running quite a bit of pond and stream water through it on a Dusy Ershim run when the expansion tank let go.
But good point about checking that again.
And thanks for links to the rave manuals. I have the actual shop manuals, but don't mind having pdf copies for my pc. I have a few electrical demons I need to trace down - that's going to be more time consuming for me than anything right now.
