Default Hello from Texas

so after much debate I chose a 03 Disco over an 03 Jeep Cherokee. Unfortunately after putting a couple hundred miles on her i've got upper valvetrain noise, gonna try a few tricks before I tear into her. she has been setting up for over a year cause the owner didn't want to deal with an out of state title transfer, but overall happy with my purchase. wanted one for years and got this one for a good price.

Welcome.

See https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...estions-46975/ about valve noise.

Also strongly consider a mechanical oil gauge PSI test. The oil pump could be cracked and making over 7 PSI (so the light will go out), but not much more.

Check the Ultra Gauge, which can read and reset codes, plus show live data, like coolant temp, plus you set alarm points. Dash heat gauge will show 50% from about 130F to 240F.

Front prop shaft, if OEM, should be rebuilt or replaced with fully greasable on all joints. OEM sealed grease is cooked out by cats, the shaft may make a few chirps, then it snaps under speed and flails a hole in the tranny before you can stop. Rebuild infor in our tech area.

The RAVE is the factory set of shop, electrical, and owner manuals. Download for free.

Our tech area also has a high miles new to you service list.
