Cool Help with popping hood...key dead

Hi folks. Here in Belize we have no LR help, and our D2 needs a new starter. We ca get a starter, but....the car is locked, the remote key is not opening the door, and the key will not turn in the lock, nor can we open the hood. We have tried the vise grip trick, didn't work, the cable is too far in to reach. Any ideas, before I go take a nap and sleep on it? It looks like this happens a lot from the other posts I'm seeing. Thanks in advance for your help!

If it's a dead battery in the truck that is causing the problem you can supply power through the starter cable if memory serves.

Unhappy Still dead!

Thanks, ArmyRover, but the battery is fully charged! We do know that the starter is dead though, as when we tried to go out last week, the beast wouldn't start for us. The plan was to call our mechanic to take the starter out, but of course, being old and somewhat senile, LOL, we locked the car! When the mechanic arrived he was as baffled as we were!

I have researched this topic and no there is not a way to get the hood to release.

You may want to call AAA and pay $50 to have someone break into the truck instead of Fing something up, sorry I don't have good news

LOL, if only we had it....I live in Belize, Central America! We've had our usual mechanics and electrical guys look at it, but they are as baffled as I am! Thanks anyway!

Whoo-hooo! Finally the hood is open, the battery and starter replaced, and the D2 is up and running! Our miracle mechanic brought with him a hood prop, inserted the hooked end into the front of the grill, pulled, and there we had it! He says it catches the hood latch, not the cable, and also says that every Land Rover he has known has had this problem! Thank you for all your help and suggestions.
