Default Howdy!

So I bought a 99 land rover discovery, to drive while I fought subaru over a warranty claim. It turned out great as I am now in love with my rover (and will hold a life long grudge against subaru). I look forward to many years of wrenching on it.

I've owned 3 Subarus and can say that after this claim I will never own another one. It started April of 2014, when I brought my 2010 WRX in because it overheated. So they end up replacing the headgaskets under warranty, test drive it and the engine pulleys seize up and snap the timing belt. They pull the engine again to fix that and when they turn it on to test drive and the valves seize up. They pull the engine again to do a valve job. All of this was covered.
Fast forward 3 months and 3000 miles later, and the car throws a rod on my way to work. I have it towed back to the dealership for them to look at, assuming it is obvious that something went wrong with all of the previous work done on the engine. But I guess it wasn't because it took a month for the dealership and SOA to go back and forth and then finally decide that it was my fault for "over revving" the engine. Now if I snuck out at night to go drag racing, I could understand that, but the car was only used to drop kids off at school, and sit in traffic to and from work everyday.

The worst part about it was how I was treated by Subaru, they lied to me on multiple occasions, wouldn't provide information I requested, and after denying the claim told me they only make sure the parts installed weren't defective, even if they were installed under a warranty claim (but would not put that last part in writing). So I asked the Subaru rep how this was possible and he told me I'd just have to figure something out with the dealership, and even then refused to provide any clear write up on how Subaru came to the decision on the warranty.

I could go on and on about dealling with them on the warranty, but I think I've ranted enough. I've been super pissed about it and freakin hate Subaru now.

The good news is it caused me to buy a Land Rover, so I couldn't be happier!
