Talking Howdy from good ole' Missouri!

Hey Everybody,

Recently bought a used Discovery II and I instantly fell in love with it. It is great for the ice and snow that we see here in southwest Missouri.

I paid $2000.00 for a 1999 Land Rover Discovery series II, (as mentioned above) with only 120,000 miles.

We pulled up and I knew immediately I had to have him. I already gave him the nickname 'Red Rover'. A few dings and a busted back bumper but it will be my 'fixer upper'. Definitely a great road companion I plan on keeping forever.

I had some minor shaking. Had a mechanic pull the drive shaft out, he looked at the u-joints and all sorts of stuff I dare to even name. He oiled the shaft up since it was dried out. Doing much better but still shakes but never prolonged. Had the tires balanced. My next update will have to be new tires which may be the problem. Everything else is PERFECT!

Well I am glad to join the LR Forum family.

Warning - front drive shaft if original will split and thrash a hole in the transmission. Replace with after market or rebuild per info in our technical area. You can't trust it with any vibrartion.

Warning - you think it is perfect, but if you put on a scanner or Ultra Gauge, you may find you are running close to overheating. Gauge is built to show 50% from 130 - 240F. There is a replacement thermostat you should also look at that is 180F soft spring, it will cut temps about 10F on the engine.

The RAVE is the factory shop manual and owner manual, it is a free download below.

And welcome.

Yeah shake has been fixed. Drive shaft was inspected and taken out. No problems...

No overheating. Thanks for input.

I have all manuals.
