Default Howdy from Texas

I finally took the plunge and bought a LR. My daily driver is an '87 911 targa, but will soon become a father for the first time, and needed something a little more practical. I'll still commute in the 911 mostly, but at least i now have a choice and won't have to take my wife's jetta TDI everywhere.
Having cold AC is key here in coastal Texas, and a backseat sure is nice!

I rode around in LR's growing up. My dad had a series from the 50's forever, then bought a '73 Lightweight when i was high school and sold it about 5 years ago. I purchased 1995 Disco 1 with the 200 tdi and R380 5-speed conversion. Absolutely LOVE IT. Always been a diesel advocate. I've had W123 benz's and VW tdi's. Maybe this country will eventually see the light... we are getting there, slowly.

This forum has already proved invaluable. I've tinkered, fixed and mended many items since i got the Disco 3 weeks ago. It's no rocket ship with the tdi, but going 265 miles on a half tank sure is nice! It also makes my 911, that is already quick, feel like a freakin' rocket ship when i drive the Disco for a few days in a row.

Cheers!

Yes, but the other two cars can't make your own expressway ramp when visiting Houston. Welcome!

Ha, no kidding. Look forward to trips to the beach. We don't have a lot of nice rocky off-roading here in SE Texas. Just sand and mud. Once i get all of the filters and fluids changed, along with a few kinks worked out, i'll have to take some trips to central Texas/Hill Country for some real fun. I better get that Roof Rack and Snorkel installed!
