just joined the club!
A big hello to everbody wherever you may be! My name is David (known as spats) , I'm a Scot living in France and at the age of 53, I've just got my first ever Landrover. It's a 1999 Defender 90 td5 and she's beautiful.
I'm delighted with it and after just over a week the only thing that I can say about it (apart from the feeble heater-which I knew about) is that the door locks are primitive. Any key, or screwdriver can be inserted approx 1/8" - 1/4" and turned and the doors will be unlocked.
I'm wondering if this has been noticed by other defender owners? are the barrels just worn out and needing to be replaced?
I would love to hear from other defender owners.
All the best.

RE: just joined the club!
Thanks for the welcome folks!
I'll certainly be changing the locks - I don't want to make things too easy for the crooks..
I've got an anti-theft device on the steering wheel that fixes onto the clutch/brake pedal. I just want to get my message across, I've been waiting too long for my pride and joy!
cheers!
