Hello all,
Just picked up a 1999 Discover II with less than 83,000 miles and live in Denver, CO. The truck has been used as a camping/recreational vehicle for it's entire life so the interior looks similar to my Jeep - used! The previous owner (second owner at about 40k miles, purchased in 2004) was very well versed in the nuances of owning a D2 and took the appropriate care of the vehicle. Its lifted, steel front and rear bumpers, front winch.
Picked it up for a good deal. He added mudding wheels and tires, ski racks, bike racks, front and rear driveshafts and some other misc. stuff for another $500. I think this was relatively underpriced but he wanted it to go to a good home.
Known issues:
Rear door has minor cosmetic issues, wiper not working and one of the pins is broken (blow open by a gust of wind). Might try to fix this as I'd hate for the remaining pin to break off.
Intermittent three amigos. Happened only on the first drive and hasn't happened since. The only difference is that I've held my foot on the brake for the subsequent starts and not the first - not sure if related. The previous owner thinks it is just a sensor.
The power steering works fine, but every once in a while, makes a noise. Might be low on fluid. I'm not sure.
I look forward to many years of fun and the necessary maintenance required to keep these machines roving!
