Default Looking at purchasing a Land Rover, figured i'd check in here first.

Hi.

So i've been trying to unload my POS Jeep cherokee and may have a possible buyer. If so i'll be looking for another winter car that i can drive.

I always thought Land Rovers were high end luxury cars yet still capable off road vehicles but way out of my price range.

I checked craigslist the other day and found out that wasn't quite the case. Saw that there were some higher mileage ones that are below $10k which is the max i'm even considering spending.

So give me the skinny on the models and what everyone thinks about them. Mileage, reliability, performance, ease to fix, options to have/pass on....
I drive 20miles away into the country every day for work so i need a winter ride. Only used in winter most likely so it has to be good in those conditions...

My first car of choice is a Subaru Baja just because of how funny it looks and it's kind of rare. But they ask for way to much for them so it's likely i'll not buy one of those. I like the Range rover newer style models but wouldn't count out the land rover style...

Crappy gas mileage, reliable so long as you have plenty of tools, and pretty easy to work on....

crappy as in how bad usually?

My small Cherokee only gets 16mpg and with as little as it is i think it's horrible gas mileage. And that's on nice roads going 55mph which should equal great gas mileage.

so not reliable at all.

YOur best bet might be to buy a $4-5 disco I and save the rest of the mony for repairs.

as far as driving in snow goes, nothing is more important than tires.

I had an 86 BMW 318. When they called for snow, i installed my snow tires and I could go any where as long as clearance was not an issue.

Well i guess you guys don't like people buying Land Rovers as you've done a pretty poor job informing me about then and this forum...

Not a single good comment about them, hardly any information as towards which ones are better then others in certain aspects...

Only 2 people responded within 24hours...means this forum won't be all that helpful for when i'm in a pinch trying to get information...

It's a wonder anybody drives these cars from the way you talk about them...
