Thanks...i wish i had more resources....i definitively need a bigger place to work...the cars basically in the driveway and it will be rolled in so i can yank the engine out, then rolled out to keep working. A one car garage becomes tiny with a Disco in it. The donor TDI will be ripped apart at a friends house, the parts not needed will be sold to fund it.

Its funny nobody is doing more swaps. It seems that 75% of issues with the Discovery are engine or tranny (we'll incorporate the front driveshaft with tranny issues) based.

Tons of Discos are on kijiji and craigslist with basically the same story. "Engine blew, take it away for scrap prices" or "Engine blew, parting out"

Its not like its a classic example of misuse or neglect. Headgaskets fail no matter what, cyl sleeves move no matter what. I dont know what Rover was thinking when they put a buick engine in there....ugh.

This is an interesting swap. I have a Series IIA 88 and have been thinking about a diesel swap to a 300 TDI. But EPA rules are there and they are vague. The VW TDI is EPA compliant so I will watch this thread closely. Have fun with the build. A single garage sucks I have the same problem
