Been a member for a few weeks why I researched what to look for in used DII and picked up a 2001 SE-7 last night and pretty happy so far. Has 123k miles and won't be my primary car or driven that much but hope to enjoy it all the same. Body is in great shape but does have a few common issue I will get to fixing. After some research and the soapy water bubble test does look like both of my rear air bags are leaking (driver side more than the passenger side). Also think I have door lock actuator issues as a couple locks don't seem to function with the switch or keyfob. Just got relocated to the Kansas City area and in an apartment for a few more months so don't have garage access but once I get settled into a house will be sure to get all the big maintenance items taken care of. Got the car for a great price so decided to ****** this one up when I came across it. Always been good a working on my own car so should be able to handle whatever items the DII decides to throw at me. Forum seems to be full of knowledgeable people so glad to see that

Welcome. Shop manuals set is called the RAVE, free download links below. Don't trust your heat gauge above 50%. An Ultra gause or a scanner will give you a much more accurate picture of things like coolant temp. The front driveshaft came from the factory without enough grease fiittings. If yours has not been upgraded, it can split and poke hole in transmission case. DIY rebuild article in our tech area.

Thanks Savannah..Yeah I have the Rave already downloaded to my PC and one of my first plans is to replace all the u-joint fittings on the driveshafts (best I can tell they havent been replaced) as I do all the other maintenance (coolant flush, fluids, etc). I have an oil pressure gauge from my last car to install and plan on getting a coolant inline fitting and gauge to monitor that as well as I know dash lights and gauges are usually inaccurate or to late. I guess my big decision is do I want to learn how to fiberglass and do some custom mounting or stick with a universal pod.
