Default New Discovery 1 Owner in Nevada

Hello there.
I am a new Land Rover Discovery owner. Don't know much about Land Rover, so I am here to get any info and input I can. I just recently purchased a 1994 Discovery. Pretty much stock at the moment, but I look forward to many modifications. Things I would like to add are, OME suspension, larger tires, grille guard, roof rack, rack ladder, and replace some worn out/broken interior parts. The exterior is actually in excellent shape, considering the vehicle's age. A few acceptable dings, but the finish is still pretty darn clean.
I look forward to meeting everyone!!

Well I'm new to Las Vegas, and new to Land Rover. Always been interested in doing some rock crawling, so I'll definitely have to check out some trails once I know I can trust my Discovery. It's pretty much stock right now, so I don't know how rugged of trails I can attempt.

You'd be surprised what it can do in stock form. There are lots and lots of easy trails all over the outskirts of the city. Kyle canyon on rt 157 towards Mt Charleston has hundreds going for miles. I took a stock S10 Blazer up them no problem. Also took a stock 68 F100 too..

Awesome. What would you recommend as an "introductory" trail?

180F thermostat might be a good idea. Plus your radiator is pretty old, maybe hunt up a local indy rad shop for a rod out. Brass and copper radiator is pricey to replace. And be sure the CDL shifter is working freely, when not used they tend to rust up. Low & high, and "lock" which is 50% split between front and back axles. "Lock" on the stock Rover does not mean all four wheels locked in step.

Thanks. According to the PO, the radiator has been replaced around 40,000 miles ago. I actually had to remove the shift lock solenoid in order to be able to shift into low gear. Now it shifts up and down, and locks and unlocks just fine.
