Hi guys, I just purchased a 2000 Discovery II. The truck is in great overall condition but I do have a few things that I need to take care of. I have a few questions, some general some more specific:

1. My passenger side window isn't going down, would this be the regulator or motor?

2. Where are the CD changers installed on these trucks.

3. The rear door is very tight and tough to open, is this just a lubrication issue?

4. I want to change out all of the fluids.Can you guys give recommendations?

5. What is the best online source for parts? What is a typical cost for replacement keys?

6. With my BMW's I use a site called realoem.com to lookup parts for my cars is their a comparable site for land rovers?

7. Where are the downstream O2 sensors located?

you can get a key at the hardware store
rovers north/atlantic british/lucky 8/ many more for parts, if you are in the states. I do not know of a parts search site outside of just googling it.

- You can use a little oil or white lithium on the rear hinges and on the latch mechanism. I cannot remember which the manual actually calls for for lubing the hinges.

- #2 in the pic is the downstream sensors. They are pretty much left and right of the transmission tunnel.

The .iso CD image file gives you the look and feel of using the program as it was setup on the CD. You can also burn a CD from the .iso image if you prefer. To run a CD image on your PC, you will need another PC app that is free called DAEMON Lite. Once Daemon Lite is installed and you open it, you just need to open the downloaded rave.iso file. It will show you the file folder structure as on the CD, and you simple double click on the rave.exe file with a Land Rover icon to run the RAVE application. This software is great for using CDs that were intended to be used in a CD drive every time, and not installed on a PC. There is also free software that can make an .iso file (CD image file) from a CD, (http://magiciso.com/) so you can have multiple CD based software programs that you would normally have to load a CD for stored on your PC and you just need to open the .iso file using Daemon Lite.

 

Not to dispute but aren't these laser cut keys? I went to Lowes and they said they could not replicate these keys.

 

Lowes lied to you, that is where I get on my spare keys made. Axxess #38. They work fine for both of my discos. Tell them to get off of Facebook and do their job.

 

Ok you were right BUT the guy couldn't make the key because the machine was erroring out because he couldn't get the entire shaft of my key in which has a fob attached. Any solutions? Also will a non fob key crank the ignition?

 

yes it will start and open and work alarm. the fob is just a remote. key in door operates alarm and locks.

 

Do I need to pull the key from the fob for this idiot at Lowes to make the key?

 

I cannot remember if I pulled the key from the fob or not. It is not the easiest key to cut, and some may not have the blank you need. I had a local hardware store cut me 2, I then went out and tested them, and had to wiggle one but got it to work, the other did not work. The young guy made me another one, I tried it and wiggled it a bit, and got it to work. I took both back in to pay, and he went over both keys with a cleaning type brush on the key cutter, and now they both work well, after a few runs through the ignition and the door. FYI, the ignition was pickier on having to move the key to get it just right, but they both work well now.

Go to a small hardware store where you may pay just a little more for the key, and if they have the blank you can probably get a little more personalized service. Also, I have found that if I go in mid-morning to mid-afternoon, I get the full-time guys, and can get a little more get up and go from them as they are awake and in full-time work mode by that time The other option is a locksmith has more knowledge in making keys that are less than you run of the mill house or car key.
