Default New to forum, and have many questions

I am new to the forum, and only have had two Land Rovers. The one I just purchase is a 2008 LR3. I would like to use it to pull my 6,200 lb travel trailer. Mainly because I love my LR3 and I don't want a pick up. Land Rover says it is rated at 7,700 lbs towing but when I hooked it up it struggled with any kind of hill. Is there a way to get a little more torque and horsepower out of the 4.4 V8?
Thank you in advance for helping and for having this great place for Land Rover chat

Welcome to the LR family.

Probably get more answers in the LR3 forum. However, you can get more horsepower but it's probably not going to be cheap.

Being rated for 7700lbs and being IDEAL for 7700lbs are 2 different things.

It's safe and structurally sound for 7700lbs(within certain parameters) but doesn't mean its going to be happy.

IMO 6,200lbs is too much and if its something i had to tow regularly and for long distances i'd want a Half ton pickup.

My Expedition was rated for 8900lbs and struggled like mad with my 6500lb boat for what its worth.

And going from there.. You aren't going to get more power from the Jag 4.4 without some serious modifications that in the end probably cost 1/2 the purchase price, will probably effect reliability and not like the stress of towing.. Only thing that comes to mind is a supercharger.

Mr Wesson,

Thank you for the advice. I am pulling a travel trailer that is about 6000 lbs. I love my LR3 and really don't want a truck but from what you said and I have read I may just need to trade out the trailer and get a motor home and tow the LR3. Not ideal but I don't want to give up the Land Rover. Thanks again
