Default New guy!

Hey everybody. Obviously I'm a new guy, and I joined the forums to get some advanced advice before I started making all the wrong decisions.

Currently I'm in the process of purchasing a '96 Disco 1 SE7. I came to the conclusion of getting one after 5 of them just bounced their way past me as I'm lumbering up the hill in my '73 Suburban.

Anyways, I'm getting an unbelieable price on one that needs a little love, mainly in the form of a new ECU and a new windshield. I started pricing lift kits, but then realized, this isn't a Ford or Chevy, and that the standard 6" probably isn't needed. As any experienced off-roader, a lift and tires are always a good start, and was wondering what all your collective experience suggests. I called the local LR dealer and they suggested a 2 1/2"-3" Old Man Emu suspension kit. Also, what's a good set of tires to run on these? I noticed they're not exactly "American" in the sense of being overpowered and torquey, so heavy KM2's probably aren't a good decision ... or are they?

Thanks for reading, and I hope to wheel with some of you soon! I'm in the Las Vegas area, so if any of you are out here, feel free to look me up and schedule a meet!
