Default New guy from NC

I just purchased a '00 Disco II. It has a few minor problems which will begin to get fixed this week. It currently needs a new water pump, valve cover gaskets and the common head gasket seapage fixed.

This will be my first adventure into the Land Rover world, but not my first in automotive at all, since I own a motorsports shop here. This may be my first off-road experiment to build up, should I keep it.

I've already been researching quite a bit on here by lurking. I'm sure I'll post and comment more as I learn my way around this vehicle.

I'm new to the board too but not so new to rovers...new to Disco. I'm in Eastern, NC. What part of the state are you in? Good luck with the upcoming work! Thomas

Fayetteville here

It has been running flawlessly over the last 3 tanks of gas.

I've replaced the water pump and I'm currently trying to track down a vibration at speeds over 55MPH. It has new u-joints in it and it appears to have upgraded driveshafts since they have grease fittings in them and in the u-joints. I'm beginning to think it may be the rotoflex or the tires.

Nice. I'm not sure if it helps but I've seen numerous posts on drive shafts and it seems that some of the rebuilt ones cause vibration as well and need to be re-balanced...and have heard that the "heavy duty" ones (such as Tom Woods) cause vibration at higher speed. Just figured I'd throw it out there. After my tranny swap I will be installing a new front drive shaft. I will let you know what goes down with the new one and if I have similar vibration and such. Good luck!
