Thanks for the add! Recently picked up a project 1998 discovery 1, 50th anniversary edition.
looking to hopefully restore to a drivable, fairly good looking weekender. The truck has a ton of issues, and I am fairly handy but this will be the most mechanic work I’ve ever done. I’ll be using that search bare quite a bit!
Biggest issues so far:
cats were cut out, along with the plugs for the O2 sensors
steering box needs new top seal
transfer and differential shifter is seized,
exhaust leaks
body damage on right rear quarter panel
someone Spray painted the interior including the seats
i am a professional detailer on the side, so I know I can get this thing looking good (planning to repaint and do the body work this fall) but the mechanical issues will be a challenge for me!
looking forward to being a part of the community,
thanks!!

I am new to this forum as well... having sold my 1987 Range rover after a 12 year stint from new. I remember having the UK on speed dial from Canada to buy power steering pumps, heater coils, rear window glass/frames. It was a lot of work, but I loved that car. Along the way I replaced all the bushings and suspension with Harvey Bailey gear and then pulled the engine and dropped in a Corvette 350 with an engine to transmission adapter from Overfinch. I kept everything looking stock. Living thirty feet from the ocean was too much for the old girl. The Dicovery is going to be a lot of fun!! I am getting the courage to order a Defender now. There is something about a British car that gets into your blood. They have a soul and are anything but an appliance. That is why I love them all. Enjoy the journey. It is worth it!
